Austin, I liked your door/longeron/latching system the first time I saw it right after the postings.  Sam, Jerry saw the same thing you saw when he designed his tank(as in Sherman).  Another thing I am guessing is that he saw the close proximity of the left side longeron.  It ain't a wide airplane and he put lots of iron in it.  You have all seen how a Cub or Champ bows down when loaded down. Not the Duce/Deuce/Super Deuce. Strong is cool.
