I believe the paperwork was followed up on long time ago. The major changes were done before the plane was recertified again at a later date. This would have been all taken care of when it was recertified. Actually it was recertified a number of times during it's first years after each of the major mods where done. However, what confuses me is why would the original weight and balance still be in use? That is what we are working on remedying though during the annual we doing right now. You are right though about the significant mods. This is one my buddy Joe at EAA headquarters keeps harping on everyone about. People have got to keep on top of these changes. I don't think increasing the gross would be a great idea. The plane really does not perform well with a passenger, the wing loading is just too high. For the interim I am going to probably pull the front windshield off, take out the front seat and put the nice hard front seat cover I have on it. Just fly it as a cool looking solo rig, Duces/Deuces are really nice looking planes in a solo config like that. I am thinking more along the lines of a weight reduction. Plotting out a plan to pull the gear off it so I can get that truss support on the bench for a redesign. I think you guys would all be amazed at Gerry's solution to the gear truss brace if you saw this thing. This would be a winter project though. Cary |
